Bury are three away wins from breaking a Football League record, and the three teams they need to overcome to achieve that feat have been revealed on fixture release day.
The Shakers ended 2014/15 with eight consecutive Sky Bet League 2 away victories and that helped them secure automatic promotion to League 1.David Flitcroft's side will start the new season at Doncaster Rovers, while their second away game is on 22nd August against Crewe Alexandra.
Six points from six in those two outings will see the Shakers equal Tottenham Hotspur's 10 successive away victories set in the 1959/60 Division 1 campaign, and they'd then need to see off Walsall on 5th September to break the record.
The omens look good for the newly-promoted side, too.
They lead the overall head-to-head record against Doncaster 29-18, taking the points last time they met, in February 2013, courtesy of a 2-0 scoreline with goals from Andy Bishop and Nicky Ajose.
Bury also lead their head-to-head against Crewe – 20-17 – and edged a five-goal game in the 2013/14 Capital One Cup, which was the most recent time they've met.
It's the same story against their third away opponents of 2015/16, Walsall. Their two most recent encounters ended 1-1 but, prior to that, the Shakers won back-to-back meetings in 2011/12. In all, they haven't been defeated by the Saddlers in six matches, going back to 2006.
