Wigan Athletic manager Gary Caldwell revealed his delight at securing the signing of a “goalscorer” in Will Grigg, with the striker moving from Brentford.
The 24-year-old has signed a three-year deal at the DW Stadium and the club announced what is their eighth summer recruit on Twitter with the help of Latics fan Oliver Speakman.I can officially confirm that @LaticsOfficial have completed the signing of @WillGrigg#wafcpic.twitter.com/LESzIyNvo1

Grigg, a Northern Ireland international, has won back-to-back promotions from Sky Bet League 1 as a runner-up – with Brentford in 2013/14 and Milton Keynes Dons last term – and he netted an impressive 20 goals in 31 starts in a loan spell with the latter club.
Wigan manager Caldwell believes Grigg's knowledge of the third tier will be vital, as the Latics attempt to bounce back from Championship relegation.
“Will is the one we were after, he’s a goalscorer, that’s what he does and why we’ve signed him,” the boss told the club's official website.
“There were other clubs in the chase, including from the Championship, but he’s chosen to come to us and we are very happy about it.
“He’s a proven goalscorer at League 1 level, and had a superb season last year on loan with MK Dons so he knows this division and is a real quality addition.
“The squad is beginning to take shape now and there is a great atmosphere in the camp, the addition of Will and Craig Davies last week has added to that because these are players with a track record for scoring.”
