Cambridge United manager Richard Money believes new recruit Jeff Hughes can play an important role for his side this season in Sky Bet League 2.

Hughes has signed a two-year deal at the Abbey Stadium, making him Cambridge’s ninth signing of the summer, and Money is delighted to have the midfielder on board.

The 59-year-old manager says that Hughes, who has a vast amount of experience, will offer a lot to the group, and he is looking forward to working with the Northern Ireland international.

“We are absolutely delighted to have secured this signing,” Money told Cambridge’s official site. “Jeff is another player who featured in League 1 last season and also has the experience of a recent promotion from this division with Fleetwood Town in 2014.

“He will bring experience and composure to our midfield and is able to play both centrally and on the left, playing both in the attacking and holding midfield role.

“His goal scoring record from midfield is also very impressive and I am sure he will become an extremely valuable member of this season’s group.”
