Jamie Ward says that he is determined to break into Nottingham Forest’s starting line-up, after completing a switch to the Sky Bet Championship outfit.
The 29-year-old has agreed to join Forest on a four-year deal, leaving their rivals Derby County to sign up at the City Ground. It is a move which even he admits came as a shock, but Ward is determined to play a prominent role in Dougie Freedman’s team over the forthcoming season.
“I don’t think anyone expected it. But then I got the phone call and to be honest this was the only place I wanted to come to,” Ward said to Forest’s official site.
“It feels a little bit strange but I’m excited about being here. The most important thing now is concentrating on what I can do for Nottingham Forest.
“As long as I’m playing and performing, I’m happy. I’m 29 now so I just want to play week in, week out.”
