New Fleetwood Town duo Bobby Grant and Lyle Della-Verde say they are ready for a new start after sealing moves to Highbury earlier this week.
Grant has returned to the club after a promotion-winning season at Shrewsbury Town last term, while Della-Verde has earned a contract after impressing manager Graham Alexander throughout pre-season.Now both players have set their targets for the upcoming Sky Bet League 1 campaign, with Grant looking to continue his 2014/15 form which saw him voted as one of the top 10 players in Sky Bet League 2.
“I have come here because I think the club can go to the next level. It’s a great move for my career as I want to improve as a player, and I think that this is the right place to do that,” Grant told the club's official website.
The 25-year-old midfielder, whose previous spell with the Cod Army was cut short due to injury, added: “I do set targets and the manager will know my targets and I think he is the only person who has to know, other than myself.
“He will be the first to jump on me if I don’t meet those targets, which is what I want. I'm not here just to be in my comfort zone, I’m here to take Fleetwood the highest we can go.”
Grant will be joined by Della-Verde, a versatile midfielder who left Fulham towards the end of the last campaign.
Della-Verde, who was a youth player at Southend United prior to his move to Craven Cottage, struggled to break through at the London club and has now has set his sights on regular first-team football.
“I was offered a trial here during pre-season and I have been doing well, they liked what they saw and offered me a contract,” said the 20-year-old.
“It has been a hard two weeks working really hard but I feel fit and I’m looking forward to the season.
“I’ve worked hard in pre-season and need to make sure I’m in that team for the first game. I’m here to play, not just to be in the squad. I want to play every game.”
