Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino proud of players

29 January 2015

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino spoke of his pride after his side reached the Capital One Cup Final following a thrilling Semi-Final second leg at Sheffield United.

Spurs were in control after they extended their aggregate lead to 2-0 thanks to Christian Eriksen’s superb free-kick at Bramall Lane, however the Blades hit back with two late goals from second-half substitute Che Adams.

But, with extra-time looming, Spurs responded and came up with a winner courtesy of that man Eriksen, who finished calmly after being picked superbly by Harry Kane.

Pochettino's men will now face Chelsea in the Capital One Cup Final at Wembley Stadium on 1st March.

The manager told tottenhamhotspur.com: “I have to congratulate our players and our supporters, they were brilliant. I’m happy for them and happy for everyone who loves Tottenham.

“It was a difficult game but I think if you analyse the two matches we deserved to go through to the Final.

“Football can change quickly. When you dominate the game, create chances and don’t give the opposition the opportunity to create chances, then you need to kill the game.

“After that, everything changed and we gave the opponent the opportunity to come back into the game. At that point it’s not tactical, not physical, but emotional. Everything is possible at that time.

“I’m very proud. I know it’s important to get to the Final and I’m happy for everyone. We want to develop our style and create something special and this is our opportunity.”
