Sky Bet League 2 round-up

10 January 2015

Wycombe Wanderers maintained their one-point advantage over Burton Albion at the Sky Bet League 2 summit after both teams secured narrow home victories.

Fred Onyedinma netted the only goal just after half-time as Wanderers edged out York City 1-0 at Adams Park.

Albion looked on course for a more emphatic triumph against Mansfield Town following early Matt Palmer and Kelvin Maynard strikes at Pirelli Stadium, but Reggie Lambe pulled one back soon after the break to apply some pressure.

Newport County stayed on the heels of the top two thanks to a 1-0 defeat of Portsmouth at Rodney Parade, with Mark Byrne bagging the crucial goal.

Down at the bottom, there was a welcome boost for Hartlepool United as Scott Fenwick and Rakish Bingham hit the target in a 2-0 victory against Cheltenham Town.

Fellow strugglers Tranmere Rovers picked up a point in a goalless draw at Morecambe, but Carlisle United suffered a 1-0 home loss to Cambridge United, with Liam Hughes getting the decider at Brunton Park.

Marc Richards and John-Joe O'Toole hit the back of the net as Northampton Town prevailed 2-0 at Exeter City, while Stevenage edged out AFC Wimbledon 2-1, thanks to Tom Pett's opener and a Simon Walton penalty either side of George Francomb's effort.

There were no goals in the games between Dagenham & Redbridge versus Oxford United and Southend United against Plymouth Argyle.
