Search begins to find Ultimate Finish of the Area Semi-Finals

6 January 2015

Three spectacular strikes are set to go before the public vote in the quest to find the Ultimate Finish winner for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Area Semi Finals.

There were eight goals in four pulsating last-eight ties, but the pick of the bunch all came at Prenton Park, where Walsall beat Tranmere 5-4 on penalties after the match had finished 2-2.

Northern Area Finalists Walsall have two players up for the award, in Anthony Forde and Michael Cain, while Tranmere’s Max Power is also in the running.

Fans are now able to have their say on which goal comes out on top. The video can be watched and votes cast by clicking here.

As well as winning the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Ultimate Finish trophy, the successful player will also claim a place in the Ultimate Finish of the Season competition.

There is also a chance for fans to be a winner with everyone who votes for the successful strike entered into a special prize draw, with one lucky winner receiving an iPod Shuffle.

The nominations are:

Max Power
TRANMERE v Walsall

Anthony Forde
Tranmere v WALSALL

Michael Cain
Tranmere v WALSALL

The closing date for votes is 10th January 2015.

Ben Wilde, brand and sponsorship manager for Johnstone’s Paint, said: “We are now at the Area Finals stage, just 180 minutes away from Wembley for the four remaining clubs, and the standard of goals for the Ultimate Finish competition remains very high.

“We’ve had some cracking games in this season’s competition - and some even better goals. Each Ultimate Finish competition so far this season has been very hotly contested and I’m sure this will be no different.”
