Ipswich Town striker Daryl Murphy has been named the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month for December.
Murphy’s hold-up play has long since been coveted and the Irishman is in the goalscoring form of his career, finishing with head and feet.He added another six in five December games, including two each against Leeds United and Brentford.
Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy said: “Murph is in a rich vein of form and deserves all the accolades he is getting. He has worked very hard on the training ground with Terry Connor and we are all reaping the benefits.”
Sky Sports’ Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “Daryl Murphy cannot stop scoring and the consequence is Ipswich Town are serious promotion contenders.
“His December tally of six took him to 17 for the season and he is showing no signs of slowing down.”

The judging panel for the Sky Bet Player of the Month comprises Sky Sports Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Head of Communications John Nagle; League Managers Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.
