Stevenage scholar Ben Kennedy has signed his first professional contract with the club.
The 18-year-old made his Football League debut as a second-half substitute against Oxford United last month before being handed his first start at Mansfield a week later.Kennedy then scored twice in Boro's 3-1 win at Hartlepool United last weekend, which earned him a mention in The Football League Team of the Week.
The Northern Irish youth international becomes the fourth Stevenage scholar to sign professional terms with the club in the past year.
Club Chairman Phil Wallace said: “Ben is the second scholar this season to be involved in and around the first team, which is testament to the work being done by everyone at youth level.
"We are hopeful that a few more will come through over the coming months, to continue to justify the work and investment we’ve made in developing our own players. We all accept that it’s a long process and these lads need time to develop, but we are certainly on the right track now.”
