Sky Bet Football League Team of the Week

2 February 2015

We pick out 11 top performers and a manager from the week's Sky Bet Football League matches.

Goalkeeper: Dimi Konstantopoulos (Middlesbrough)

Boro won 1-0 at Brentford on Saturday to move within a point of leaders Bournemouth in the Sky Bet Championship and Konstantopoulos was vital to their success, making a flurry of late saves to deny the Bees.

Defender: Sol Bamba (Leeds United)

Billy Sharp's late header secured a derby victory for Leeds over Huddersfield but, at the other end, Bamba impressed with a commanding display.

Defender: Phil Edwards (Burton Albion)

Edwards scored the only goal of the game against Bury to maintain Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's 100 per cent record at the Pirelli Stadium as Burton boss. Edwards also performed well at the back to ensure the Brewers kept a clean sheet.

Defender: George Elokobi (Oldham Athletic)

Another defender celebrating a goal and a clean sheet was Oldham's Elokobi. His header set the Latics on their way to a 3-0 victory against Notts County, which was the perfect way to mark his 29th birthday.

Midfielder: Carl Baker (Milton Keynes Dons)

Karl Robinson's Dons thumped Crewe Alexandra 5-0 on the road and Baker was a top performer, putting in a fine all-round display. The former Coventry City man netted his side's fourth of the afternoon, curling the ball home from just inside the box.

Midfielder: Ben Pearson (Barnsley)

The energetic Pearson grabbed the first senior goal of his career in Barnsley's 2-1 victory against Port Vale. It was a special goal, too, with the young midfielder running from box to box before finding the net, courtesy of a deflection.

Midfielder: Jonathan Franks (Hartlepool United)

Franks was the man of the moment for Hartlepool on Saturday as he scored twice in their 3-2 victory against Plymouth Argyle. Both goals were neat, low finishes and the second took out the club's goal camera!

Midfielder: Matt Ritchie (AFC Bournemouth)

The lively Ritchie inspired Bournemouth to a 2-0 Friday night success against Watford. He caused the Hornets problems throughout and got on the scoresheet midway through the second half to secure the three points.

Striker: Zach Clough (Bolton Wanderers)

Clough scored two goals in two minutes on his League debut for Bolton Wanderers, against Wolves, and they were both well-taken strikes, including a sublime free-kick.

Striker: Tom Hopper (Scunthorpe United)

Front man Hopper has been impressive since joining Scunthorpe from Leicester City and he netted the third and fourth goals of his loan spell against Leyton Orient on Saturday, which helped the Iron to a 4-1 triumph.

Striker: Jamie Murphy (Sheffield United)

Nigel Clough's United looked to be heading towards a share of the spoils with Sky Bet League 1's previous table-toppers Swindon Town, but substitute Murphy scored two second-half goals to steal all three points. His second was a tidy, lobbed finish and the win fired the Blades into the Play-Off places.

Manager: Chris Wilder (Northampton Town)

Wilder celebrated his 50th game in charge of the Cobblers by watching them cruise to a 5-1 win at Accrington Stanley, despite playing more than 50 minutes with 10 men. The manager named the same starting XI for the fifth match on the spin and Marc Richards, Lawson D'Ath and Ricky Holmes were star performers as Wilder's men notched their fourth victory on the bounce.
