Karl Robinson named Sky Bet League 1 Manager of the Month

6 February 2015

Milton Keynes Dons boss Karl Robinson has been named the Sky Bet League 1 Manager of the Month for January.

In a busy month for the Dons, Robinson's side reaped 11 points from five unbeaten games that saw them top Sky Bet League 1.

Robinson rotated his squad seamlessly during January, and they peaked in a 5-0 win at the improving Crewe Alexandra.

George Burley, who chairs the Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel, said: “Karl Robinson has had a great January.

“He has made MK Dons one of the most potent attacking teams in The Football League.”

Sky Sports’ Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “One of the most promising young managers in England, Karl impressed as the Dons continued their ascent to the top of the League 1 table.

“He guided the side through five unbeaten games in 21 days, negotiating the challenges that brought.”

Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery said: “Victories over Crewe, Barnsley and Sheffield United in addition to two draws means the MK Dons are now in a great position to challenge Swindon and Bristol city for the League 1 title.

“Often praised for the attacking abilities of Dele Alli and the now-departed Benik Afobe, it was an excellent defensive run - conceding only three goals in five league outings - that saw them briefly top the table.”

The judging panel for the Sky Bet Manager of the Month is chaired by former Ipswich Town manager George Burley, along with Sky Sports’ Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Chief Operating Officer Andy Williamson; League Managers’ Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.
