Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink praised the spirit of his Burton Albion promotion hopefuls after they earned a 1-0 victory over Bury to notch their sixth successive home win since the Dutchman took charge.
After full-back Phil Edwards grabbed the only goal, the Burton boss said: "We have a tremendous team spirit and togetherness that makes me very proud of the boys."We were solid, we were organised and we were willing to work hard for each other."
Edwards scored from a set piece in the 62nd minute and Hasselbaink thought his side were good value for a win that took them level on points with Shrewsbury at the top of the Sky Bet League 2 table.
He said: "I thought in the first half we looked really good, passed the ball well and looked dangerous.
"In the second half we knew they would come out and try to make things difficult for us, which they did for 10 or 15 minutes.
"But we coped with it and stood firm. Our goalkeeper had two important saves to make, but other than that I thought we were very solid and gave nothing away.
"We were playing against a good side with good players, and at times we had to dig in as a team and depend on our organisation.
"We were willing to work hard for each other - and that is important if you want to be successful.
"There were fine margins and not a lot between the two teams, but it was a deserved win."
