Mansfield Town’s on-loan goalkeeper Lenny Pidgeley praised his team-mates after their 1-0 victory against Luton Town in Sky Bet League 2 on Tuesday. The stopper joined the Stags from Newport County on deadline day until the end of the season and celebrated keeping his second clean sheet in the narrow win against the Hatters.
The result, which came after they conceded a last-minute equaliser against Northampton at the weekend, moved the Stags up to 18th in the League 2 standings. They now have a five-point cushion over the bottom two, and Pidgeley was full of praise for his team-mates.
He told Mansfield’s official website: “Luton are doing fantastically this season and to bounce back after the late disappointment on Saturday, it’s a massive three points.
“I think we deserved it in the end. Sometimes you have to ‘win ugly’ and we saw the game out.
“So fair play to the lads. They really dug in and concentration and organisation got us over the line.
“We were so disappointed [on Saturday against Northampton] and the best thing to do was to get out there and put it right - a 1-0 win and we looked very solid.
“We have some important games coming up. We will take it one game at a time and we’re all focused on the next game.
“I said to the boys, once we start picking up results it will come. The team spirit was massive and I could see that from the first day. Everyone wants to do it for each other. Past results are history now.”
