Final Third Development League digest

12 February 2015

This week's Final Third Development League action featured wins for Hull and Peterborough, as well as the return of Derby captain Shaun Barker.

Final Third Development League – East Division

Hull City cruised to a comfortable 3-1 victory against Hartlepool United on Wednesday evening to maintain their place at the East Division summit.

Goals from Jarrod Brown, Robbie McKenzie and Johan Ter Horst helped the Tigers to three points and that was their fourth successive win in all competitions.

Final Third Development League – South Division

South Division leaders Luton Town lost for the first time this season as Peterborough United recorded a 2-0 triumph over the Hatters.

Jonathan Edwards and Harry Anderson scored the goals for Posh – the latter with a superb solo effort – to lift them off the foot of the division.

Final Third Development League Cup – South Group A

Gillingham and Brighton & Hove Albion battled out a rare Development League goalless draw in South Group A of the Cup.

Charlie Harris struck the bar for the Seagulls, while Devante McKain saw his late effort well saved by the visiting goalkeeper.

The point was the Gills' first of the season in the Cup, but they remain rooted to the bottom of their group. Brighton sit third.

Final Third Development League Cup – North Group B

Doncaster Rovers and Derby County also played out a draw, in North Group B of the Cup, which featured the return of Rams captain Shaun Barker after three years out injured.

Jack McKay opened the scoring for Rovers but the hosts levelled for a share of the spoils late on, with Alban Bunjaku finding the net in the 90th minute for the group leaders.
