Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka described his side’s victory at Blackpool as one of his best days at the club as they won 2-1 to go top of the Sky Bet Championship.A Jonathan Woodgate header had Boro in front in the 81st minute but Blackpool were level soon after, when Ben Gibson scored an own goal.
However, Kike headed against the bar before turning in the rebound in the 88th minute to seal all three points and send Karanka’s side to the summit.
The manager told the club’s official website: “For me it could be one of my best days at the club. It was very important to win and I’m very, very pleased.
“We showed when we have to get something important in the league we can do it and we are working very hard.
“We are very happy but we have a long way to go.
“We made seven changes but I was confident, I trust my squad and the crowd can trust them.
“Now people can understand why I speak so highly of players like Woody and Deano. I was confident with my decision.”
