Time To Talk: Football discusses depression

Time to Talk explores the stories of four individuals in the professional game who have experienced mental health problems and looks at how football is addressing the wider problem.

It has been produced by the FA with the backing of the football family, including The Football League.

The film features former Football League players Clarke Carlisle and Leon McKenzie, current Swindon Town manager Martin Ling and Kelly Smith of Arsenal Ladies who all share their experiences of depression and discuss the relationship between mental health and football.

One in four people will experience a mental health problem in any year. Research suggests over 10% of the population have depression at any one time. There are millions of people involved in at all levels of football with mental health problems and the FA have a number of resources available for anybody in the game requiring additional help and information.
