Sky Bet League 2: Matchday 22 preview

18 December 2015

The final day of Sky Bet League 2 fixtures before Christmas take place this weekend, and there's plenty to play for.

Leaders Northampton Town, as well as Oxford United and Plymouth Argyle, are the teams in with a chance of topping the pile on 25th December.

Here are all the Sky Bet League 2 Matchday 22 fixtures, which all kick-off at 3pm:

Saturday 19th December 2015

Barnet v Crawley Town
Cambridge United v Mansfield Town
Carlisle United v Notts County
Dagenham & Redbridge v Bristol Rovers
Exeter City v Luton Town
Hartlepool United v Plymouth Argyle
Leyton Orient v Yeovil Town
Newport County v AFC Wimbledon
Northampton Town v Portsmouth
Stevenage v Accrington Stanley
Wycombe Wanderers v Oxford United
York City v Morecambe

Northampton return to Sixfields following their dramatic 4-3 win over Luton Town last weekend, and welcome a Portsmouth side unbeaten in five Sky Bet League 2 outings.

Ready to pounce - should the Cobblers slip up - are Oxford United and Plymouth Argyle, who travel to Wycombe Wanderers and Hartlepool United respectively. Michael Appleton's U's are riding a six-game undefeated streak, while Plymouth haven't recorded a League victory in more than a month.

Accrington Stanley are in fine form going into Christmas, and have won four of their last five - drawing the other. This week, they travel to Stevenage, who've won three straight games of their own.

Sixth-placed Carlisle United play Notts County, but do so in an unfamiliar environment at Preston North End's Deepdale ground. The fixture was moved to Lancashire following the aftermath of Storm Desmond, which left Brunton Park flooded.

Bristol Rovers and Leyton Orient could displace Mansfield in the Play-Off places for the festive period, and lock horns with Dagenham & Redbridge and Yeovil Town, while the Stags make a trip to Cambridge United.

Yeovil and Dagenham are two of three sides who could spend Christmas at the foot of Sky Bet League 2, along with York City. The Minstermen have shipped 16 goals in their last four matches, and go up against Morecambe - the joint-second highest scorers in the division.

Elsewhere, Newport County's chance to bounce back from a first defeat in eight comes against AFC Wimbledon at Rodney Parade, Crawley Town visit Barnet and Exeter City host managerless Luton Town.
