Ready to pounce - should the Cobblers slip up - are Oxford United and Plymouth Argyle, who travel to Wycombe Wanderers and Hartlepool United respectively. Michael Appleton's U's are riding a six-game undefeated streak, while Plymouth haven't recorded a League victory in more than a month.
Accrington Stanley are in fine form going into Christmas, and have won four of their last five - drawing the other. This week, they travel to Stevenage, who've won three straight games of their own.
Sixth-placed Carlisle United play Notts County, but do so in an unfamiliar environment at Preston North End's Deepdale ground. The fixture was moved to Lancashire following the aftermath of Storm Desmond, which left Brunton Park flooded.
