Sky Bet League 2: Matchday 21 review

12 December 2015

Northampton Town hit the Sky Bet League 2 summit for the first time this season courtesy of a thrilling 4-3 victory at Luton Town.

In a topsy-turvy encounter it was Ricky Holmes’ late winner that sealed the points for Chris Wilder’s Cobblers, and that lifted them ahead of Oxford United and Plymouth Argyle.

The U’s shared the points with Carlisle United, while Plymouth lost 2-1 at home to Cambridge United, which means they are winless in four.

Portsmouth are up to fourth, meanwhile, following a 4-0 thumping of Hartlepool United.

Bristol Rovers climbed to within touching distance of the Play-Off places with a last-gasp win over rock-bottom York City, who have now lost all of their last seven matches.

Yeovil Town remain in the bottom two despite fighting back from two goals down to draw with Barnet.

Stevenage secured their third win in as many matches, beating AFC Wimbledon 2-1, while Liam Noble and Izale McLeod scored two apiece to see Notts County to an enthralling 4-3 victory over Newport County.
