With Wigan Athletic's game also falling victim to the weather, Southend United went level on points with them after beating Colchester United 2-0.
Elsewhere, Scunthorpe United triumphed 1-0 at Doncaster Rovers and Shrewsbury Town shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw with Fleetwood Town.
