Sky Bet Championship: Matchday 21 review

16 December 2015

On Tuesday, Middlesbrough leapfrogged Brighton & Hove Albion at the Sky Bet Championship summit by beating Burnley 1-0.

In a rain-soaked match at the Riverside, Emilio Nsue scored the only goal of the game to send Boro top, as Brighton could only draw with Queens Park Rangers in Sky Sports’ latest #10in10 instalment.

The Seagulls took a two-goal lead at Loftus Road in front of the cameras but a Charlie Austin double saw the hosts take a point.

Bolton Wanderers also came from two goals down to earn a share of the spoils against Charlton Athletic at The Valley.

Brentford were another team to mount a comeback, against Cardiff City, but Kenwyne Jones struck late to seal all three points for the Bluebirds.

Elsewhere, Tom Ince scored his first league hat-trick to see Derby County to a 4-0 success against Bristol City, while Huddersfield Town won 2-0 against Rotherham United.

3 - Tom Ince has his first hat-trick in English league football, having scored nine braces since October 2011. Trio.

There were 2-1 wins for Ipswich Town and Milton Keynes Dons, against Fulham and Sheffield Wednesday respectively, and Preston North End drew with Birmingham City.

In Wednesday night's live #10in10 contest, Hull City came from behind to defeat Reading 2-1 at the KC Stadium. Nick Blackman broke the deadlock for the visiting Royals, before Abel Hernandez and a late strike from Jake Livermore secured the spoils for the Tigers.

Then, on Thursday, Leeds United won 3-2 at Wolves with Sam Byram scoring his first career brace, on top of a Stuart Dallas goal.
