Sky Bet Championship: Matchday 19 review

6 December 2015

Brighton & Hove Albion returned to the top of the Sky Bet Championship after a dramatic late comeback against Charlton Athletic.

The travelling Addicks stunned the Seagulls inside the opening four minutes, going 2-0 up after goals from Ademola Lookman and Reza Ghoochannejhad.

Loanee James Wilson got the hosts back into the game with his first Brighton goal just after half-time, before two strikes in as many minutes from Bobby Zamora and Tomer Hemed rescued all three points, and extended the club's unbeaten run to 20 League games.

Preston North End clinched a famous away victory at Lancashire rivals Burnley in the two clubs' first Championship meeting in nearly five years.

Will Keane broke the deadlock for the Lilywhites – with brother Michael on the field for Burnley – before Daniel Johnson sealed the win.

Cardiff City jumped into the Play-Off positions after a 3-2 triumph at Bolton Wanderers, and did so at Birmingham City's expense. The Blues haven't scored a goal in their last four showings at St Andrew's, and came unstuck again on Matchday 19, losing 2-0 to Huddersfield Town as new boss David Wagner secured his first victory.

It was a happy debut for Dean Smith in the Brentford dugout, as his new side toppled Milton Keynes Dons 2-0 at Griffin Park.

Hull City lost their second consecutive Sky Bet Championship game, going down 2-1 to Leeds United, and Blackburn Rovers made it two wins from three under manager Paul Lambert, beating 10-man Bristol City 2-0 at Ashton Gate.

Elsewhere, Nottingham Forest strolled to a 3-0 win over Fulham at the City Ground, and Wolverhampton Wanderers recorded their first victory in five attempts to beat Rotherham United 2-1.

On Sunday, Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County played out a goalless draw at Hillsborough.
