Mick McCarthy named Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month

11 December 2015

Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy has been named the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month for November.

Never one to panic, McCarthy’s calmness under pressure and belief in his players allowed them to flourish in November and pick up 10 points from a maximum 12, which included three-goal wins at Rotherham United and Charlton Athletic.

George Burley, who chairs the Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel, said: “After a tough October, Mick found the right blend in his squad winning three games and drawing one during November.

“The 5–2 and 3–0 victories away from home show how many attacking qualities he has in his side.

“After just missing out in the Play-Offs last season, Mick will be determined to finish in the top six again this time around.”

Sky Sports’ Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “Mick McCarthy described October as the toughest moment of his Ipswich managerial career, after losing 3-0 to Hull City and slumping to 11th in the table.

“This makes the form that Town showed in November all the more impressive, as convincing wins against Bolton Wanderers, Rotherham and Charlton saw them move up the table.”

The Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel comprises former Ipswich Town boss George Burley, Sky Sports’ Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Chief Operating Officer Andy Williamson; League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.
