Jacob Murphy named Sky Bet League 1 Player of the Month

11 December 2015

Coventry City's Jacob Murphy has been named the Sky Bet League 1 Player of the Month for November.

Murphy’s progression since the start of the season has been remarkable.

Given the responsibility to create as well as score, Murphy has benefited from dropping deeper, using his pace to score five goals, including a 10-minute hat-trick against Gillingham.

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray said: "Jacob Murphy had a terrific November for us and I'm delighted he's getting the recognition he deserves.

"He's a young lad who has progressed well during his time at the club, and he is also great to work with on the training pitch.

"We were missing Adam Armstrong and Ryan Kent for the 3-1 win over Colchester United and he really stepped up that day to get a brace at his former club.

"He followed that up with a brilliant 10-minute hat-trick against Gillingham and hopefully he can continue to learn and develop with us throughout the 2015/16 season.”

Sky Sports’ Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “Murphy’s hat-trick against Gillingham was a joy to watch. His pace and finishing ability have set the Norwich City loanee apart.

“The winger has been virtually unplayable at times throughout November and Tony Mowbray will be hopeful he can keep this form up into the New Year.”

The judging panel for the Sky Bet Player of the Month comprises Sky Sports Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Head of Communications John Nagle; League Managers Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.
