Jurgen Klopp has hailed the performance of his Liverpool side following their 6-1 rout of Southampton in the Capital One Cup Quarter-Finals.
A Divock Origi hat-trick, along with a Jordon Ibe strike and a brace from the returning Daniel Sturridge gave the Reds a huge win, after they had fallen behind to a Sadio Mane effort inside the first minute.Unsurprisingly, Klopp was delighted with the performance after they overcame a slow start.
“We had some problems in the first minute, no fewer problems in the next 10 and then we started playing the game, but it was not easy," the German told liverpoolfc.com.
“We spoke at half-time and I don’t like to say too often, ‘it’s 3-1... be careful’, but always in a cup game you cannot ignore that because it’s not over unless you stay concentrated.
“We made super goals, I have to say – they were really, really nice with good play.
“It is not too often we can talk about this... maybe we will have to wait too long for the next time we can enjoy a football game like this. It was a good one tonight.”
Liverpool will now face Stoke City over two legs in the Capital One Cup Semi-Finals, with the first leg taking place in the week commencing 4th January 2016.
