Ipswich Town striker Daryl Murphy has been named the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month for November.
A quiet, goalless start to the season was all forgotten in November with six goals in four games.Murphy’s first career hat-trick, in the 5-2 win at Rotherham United, was the highlight, with headers against Wolves and Charlton Athletic demonstrating his all-round threat.
Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy said: “He had to wait a while for the goals to come this season.
“He wasn’t doing anything different to last year, it just wasn’t happening for him. There were signs it was all coming back though and he certainly had a great November.
“Six goals for us and he played his part in Ireland getting to the European Championships.
"Hopefully he will have the Finals to look forward to next summer, what an incentive that is for him.”
Sky Sports’ Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “The goals returned for Daryl Murphy in a big way during November after a subdued start to the season.
“Last season’s top goalscorer looks to be hitting top gear once again and scored six of Ipswich’s 12 goals in November.”
Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery said: “Daryl Murphy was in impressive scoring form in November, netting six goals in four games including a hat-trick away at Rotherham to put his side into Play-Off contention."
The judging panel for the Sky Bet Player of the Month comprises Sky Sports Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Head of Communications John Nagle; League Managers Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.
