#10in10 on Sky Sports: Birmingham City v Cardiff City

18 December 2015

The eighth instalment of The Football League and Sky Sports' #10in10 coverage takes place on Friday night, as Birmingham City take on Cardiff City at St Andrew's.

For those fans that can’t get enough football at Christmas, Sky Sports’ #10in10 is the perfect way to kick-off the festive season by sitting back and watching the fantastic entertainment and drama of the Sky Bet Football League!

Birmingham City

The Blues have endured a difficult last month on Sky Bet Championship duties. In their five outings they've failed to win a single game, having lost three in a row and drawn their most recent two.

The defeats at home to Charlton Athletic and Huddersfield Town – where they failed to score – extended their barren form in front of goal to four games – their worst run since 2010.

But manager Gary Rowett has steadied the ship in the last seven days - taking well-earned points at table-toppers Middlesbrough and an in-form Preston North End.

Birmingham sit one place and three points below Cardiff in eighth, but a two-goal victory for them tonight would see them rise above the Welsh side.

Cardiff City

The Bluebirds are hovering just outside the Play-Off places, and only need a point to take them into sixth on Friday, ahead of Ipswich Town's fixture with Derby County on Saturday.

Russell Slade's men are four unbeaten in the Sky Bet Championship coming into Matchday 22, and took all three points late on against Brentford in midweek.

But with their recent run has come a leak in goals, and they've shipped two in each of their last five games, to Derby, Burnley, Bolton Wanderers, Sheffield Wednesday and Brentford. That said, Cardiff have only lost one of those, and have made up for defensive frailties at the opposite end.

Blue Christmas

The #10in10 fixture will be Birmingham and Cardiff's last outing before Christmas, and it's the Bluebirds who've held the upper hand in recent times.

Cardiff haven't lost to the Midlands club in seven years - since September 2008 - and have taken four wins and three draws since.

The last time Birmingham beat them in front of the St Andrew's crowd was in 2007, where Sebastian Larsson netted the only goal in a 1-0 triumph.
