Sky Bet League 2: Matchday 5 review

29 August 2015

Leyton Orient kept their 100 per cent winning record intact with a comfortable 2-0 triumph over Bristol Rovers at Matchroom Stadium.

Lloyd James opened the scoring for the O's after tucking home from the penalty spot, and Jay Simpson scored his fourth goal of the campaign to cap victory and bring Rovers' run of three successive victories to an end.

Carlisle United edged a five-goal thriller with Hartlepool United to claim their first win of the season at Victoria Park. Scott Harrison put the home side ahead inside six minutes, but the Cumbrians drew level in the second half through Jabo Ibehre. Billy Paynter then put Pools back in front with 20 minutes to play, before Tom Miller and a second strike from Ibehre late on clinched a 3-2 result for the visitors.

Elsewhere, Plymouth Argyle won their third game on the spin to beat winless Newport County 1-0, and Matt Tubbs fired a last-minute goal as Portsmouth maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a 2-1 win at Luton Town.
