Sky Bet League 1: Match Round 3 review

19 August 2015

It was goals galore in Sky Bet League 1, with the ball hitting the back of the net 37 times in the 10 matches played on Tuesday in Match Round 3.

The highest-scoring contest of the night was at Bury, where the Shakers lost 4-3 to Fleetwood Town in a thrilling encounter.

Lee Johnson’s Barnsley also picked up a high-scoring win over Millwall, defeating the Lions 3-2, and Coventry City managed to beat Crewe Alexandra by the same scoreline to maintain their 100 per cent start.

Elsewhere, Sheffield United beat Peterborough United 3-1 with Conor Sammon getting his name on the scoresheet twice, before Jose Baxter sealed their win late on.

There were two fixtures taking place on Wednesday evening, as Wigan Athletic recorded a comprehensive 3-0 home victory over Scunthorpe United, while Doncaster Rovers and Southend United drew blanks at the Keepmoat Stadium.
