Sky Bet Football League Match Round 1 attendances

The biggest crowd in the Sky Bet Football League on Match Round 1 was seen at Leeds United, with hoards of supporters turning up to witness their game against Burnley.

27,672 fans were in attendance to watch the 1-1 draw, with 1,719 Burnley supporters making the 115-mile round trip to Elland Road.

The crowd at Leeds was just over 3,000 larger than any other, with the 24,623 people at the curtain-raiser between Brighton & Have Albion and Nottingham Forest representing the second biggest crowd of the weekend.

Middlesbrough were the team with the most away fans in The Football League on the first weekend. Aitor Karanka’s men were backed by 3,650 supporters at Deepdale, but they were not able to give them a goal to celebrate – their game against Preston North End finished 0-0.

In Sky Bet League 1 the largest attendance was seen at the Ricoh Arena, where 13,131 people turned up to view the Sky Blues’ 2-0 win over Wigan Athletic, while the 16,948 turnout at Portsmouth versus Dagenham & Redbridge represented the highest Sky Bet League 2 crowd.

Across all The Football League divisions the average home attendance was 10,208, with 1,372 away supporters.
