Sky Bet Championship's top two collide - Ipswich Town v Brighton & Hove Albion

28 August 2015

The early pace-setters in the Sky Bet Championship go head-to-head this weekend, with Ipswich Town welcoming Brighton & Hove Albion to Portman Road.

Both sides have picked up three wins and a draw from their four opening fixtures, but it's Ipswich who currently sit at the summit of the division due to a superior goal difference.

The Tractor Boys reached the Sky Bet Play-Offs last season and it's no surprise to see them make a strong opening to the new campaign once again.

Brighton's impressive start may not have been as expected, but Chris Hughton has put together a solid-looking outfit who have kept three clean sheets in all competitions so far this term, with their midweek 2-1 Capital One Cup defeat to Walsall the first time their defence has been breached more than once.

The Seagulls face a tough task to preserve their unbeaten start to their Championship season, however. Mick McCarthy's men have turned Portman Road into a fortress in recent times, boasting an undefeated streak dating back to February last term.

On 21st February 2015, Ipswich slipped to a 1-0 loss against Reading, but have since gone 11 home matches without defeat. The Tractor Boys have won eight of those, including their last five regular season games.

Ipswich have won their last two home fixtures against Brighton by two goals to nil, and a repeat of that scoreline would ensure they sit top of the table going into September.
