Sky Bet Championship: Matchday 5 review

29 August 2015

Brighton & Hove Albion continued their unbeaten start to the Sky Bet Championship season with a 3-2 win in their top-of-the-table clash with Ipswich Town.

The Seagulls now top the standings outright, but were made to work for their victory at Portman Road.

Chris Hughton's men sailed into an early 2-0 lead courtesy of goals from Kazenga LuaLua and Tomer Hemed inside 12 minutes, but strikes from Freddie Sears and David McGoldrick saw the home side back on level terms in the second half. Brighton then swiftly broke down the other end just two minutes later to restore their advantage, with Hemed again on the scoresheet.

Cardiff City and Birmingham City also maintained their undefeated starts, seeing off Nottingham Forest and Milton Keynes Dons respectively, while Fulham and Reading registered their first wins, against Rotherham United and Brentford.

In the lunchtime kick-off, Leeds United ended a run of four successive league draws to beat Derby County 2-1 at the iPro Stadium, with striker Chris Wood bagging the crucial goal just two minutes from time.
