Premier League sides enter the fray in Round 2 of the Capital One Cup

Round 2 of the Capital One Cup is upon us, and this week 12 Premier League sides enter the 2015/16 competition.

It follows an explosive Round 1, in which 72 teams from the Sky Bet Championship, Sky Bet League 1 and Sky Bet League 2 locked horns.

Aston Villa, winners of the League Cup on five occasions, play their first match on Tuesday, when they welcome Notts County to Villa Park.

Among the other previous competition winners are Leicester City, Norwich City, West Bromwich Albion and Swansea City, who face ties against Bury, Rotherham United, Port Vale and York City respectively.

The 1972 League Cup champions were Stoke City, who, after an impressive summer of player recruitment, contest the first live Sky Sports match of the week, against 1988 winners Luton Town at Kenilworth Road.

On Wednesday, Barnsley welcome Everton to Oakwell in another game being screened live on Sky Sports, in what is their first meeting for more than 17 years.

Sky Bet League 2's Exeter City face a long trip north to face Sunderland, as do Northampton Town, who go to Newcastle United, while Bournemouth will make the trek to Hartlepool United.

Elsewhere, Crystal Palace entertain Shrewsbury Town at Selhurst Park, while Premier League newcomers Watford make a visit to Deepdale to play Preston North End.

The remaining top-flight sides who are taking part in UEFA competitions will join proceedings in Round 3.
