Graham Burke says that he is looking forward to returning to Villa Park with Notts County on Tuesday evening.Burke spent five years with Villa, developing in their youth system and making two first-team appearances, but he made a permanent move to the Magpies this summer.
He has not had to wait long to have a reunion with his former side, though, and the 21-year-old winger is keen to show Villa what he can do.
“I’m really looking forward to it,” Burke told Magpies Player. “It’s a massive game for the club, and for the players too.
“It’s against Premier League opposition and they are the games you look forward to, and are the ones where you want to impress.
“Personally, I have five years there and had good times. It’s always good to go back. Villa does hold a special place in my heart.”
Burke may not be the only player in the field to take on his former club during the contest, either.
Jack Grealish, who has established himself one of Villa’s key attacking talents, spent time on loan with Notts County earlier in his career.
Since then his career has gone from strength to strength, with Villa boss Tim Sherwood giving the youngster a prominent role in the their team, and Burke is pleased to see his former team-mate thriving.
“Jack obviously came here on loan and did very well,” he added. “I think it will be a special game for him, because he got an opportunity to showcase his talent here and he has reaped the rewards from it.
“He’s done brilliantly at Villa since he got his chance.”
