Chris Wilder believes his Northampton Town side can do a lot better, despite recording a 3-0 Sky Bet League 2 victory over Exeter City.
Jason Taylor scored his first goal for the club in the victory – a 25-yard stunner – while Ryan Cresswell and Marc Richards also found the net, but Wilder believes the scoreline wasn't a reflection of his side's performance.“I think 3-0 flattered us to be honest,” he said, to the club's official website.
“The difference was in both boxes and I didn’t think that was a 3-0 game today at all.
“Adam Smith made some great saves and but for the bounce of the ball and some more clinical finishing Exeter could have easily got a result here today.
“We scored three cracking goals but I thought we were well off it today and I’m not going to gloss over anything.
“Tuesday night was fantastic and we were first class but I didn’t think we were as good, with or without the ball today and our energy levels were off.
“It’s a new team and we are still learning, it’s a 3-0 win and we are grateful for that but we need to be better.”
