Sky Sports' first Capital One Cup screening of the new season will be Portsmouth versus Derby County, which is live on Sky Sports 1 on Wednesday 12th August
The cameras will be at Fratton Park for the 7:45pm kick-off to see if Pompey can cause a Round 1 upset against Derby, who sit two tiers above the side from Sky Bet League 2.Both have promotion aspirations this season, and both have new managers in charge in a fixture that should provide an intriguing battle on the south coast.
Summertime changes
After finishing last season in mid-table, Portsmouth opted for a change of manager and recruited Paul Cook, who arrived at the club after a fine season with Chesterfield in Sky Bet League 1.
Cook brought Gary Roberts – one of the key players at the Spireites – with him and made a number of other reinforcements from higher divisions to boost the Pompey ranks.
Another managerial change saw Paul Clement replace Steve McClaren at the iPro Stadium following the disappointment of missing out on the Play-Offs last term.
Clement has a glowing CV from coaching roles at Chelsea, PSG and Real Madrid, and also strengthened his squad with a host of new faces for their 2015/16 campaign, including Andreas Weimann, Jason Shackell and the permanent signing of Tom Ince.
How's the season started?
Portsmouth are highly fancied to be among the contenders at the top of Sky Bet League 2 this season, and they hit the ground running with a 3-0 win against Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday.
New signing Kyle Bennett was the pick of the bunch for Cook's men, setting one goal up and scoring two to put Pompey joint-top of the division on opening weekend.
Derby, meanwhile, were frustrated by Bolton Wanderers on Saturday, and played out a goalless draw at the Macron Stadium.
The point was tarnished by an injury suffered to talented young midfielder Will Hughes, who is set to miss a sizeable chunk of the season after damaging his cruciate ligaments.

Head-to-head
The two clubs last locked horns in 2011/12, in the Championship, where Derby took six points from the two fixtures.
A comfortable home win for the Rams was followed by another victory at Portsmouth, with the 2-1 scoreline confirming Pompey's relegation to League 1.
The last time the three points went to Portsmouth was in the Premier League back in 2007/08 and they trail Derby in the overall head-to-head, with the Rams having won 42 games to Pompey's 34, alongside 20 draws.
League Cup history
Neither of these sides have lifted the League Cup in their history, nor reached the showpiece event.
The last time Derby came close was in 2008/09 when Paul Jewell took the Rams to the semi-finals, where they were defeated 4-3 over two legs by eventual champions Manchester United.
Portsmouth reached the quarter-finals the following season, but they were knocked out 4-2 by Aston Villa, who went on to reach the final at Wembley.
