Head-to-head

Meetings: 57
Burnley wins: 17
Leeds wins: 30
Draws: 10

Leeds United have typically had the upper hand in games against Burnley, claiming 30 victories compared to the Clarets’ 17.

The sides have not met for over a year now, though, after Burnley earned promotion to the Premier League during the 2013/14 campaign.

In that season, Sean Dyche’s men beat Leeds both times they clashed, and they could make it three wins on the trot at Elland Road on Saturday.

Uwe Rosler set for Elland Road bow

Leeds United head into the new season under the guidance of new manager Uwe Rosler.

The German takes over from Neil Redfearn, and he has promised to deliver ‘rock and roll’ football at the Whites.

To aid his cause, Leeds have brought in seven new faces, with the addition of Chris Wood from Leicester City, in particular, catching supporters’ imagination.

Burnley are back

After one season in the Premier League, Burnley are back in the Sky Bet Championship with a slightly altered line-up.

The Clarets have lost Danny Ings to Liverpool and Jason Shackell to Derby County this summer, but the bulk to their team remains similar.

Last term’s Player of the Season, George Boyd, will be a prominent attacking weapon, while the likes of Sam Vokes and Tom Heaton were part of the team that got Burnley to the top tier in 2013/14, and know the division well.

The signing of Jelle Vossen is an intriguing one, and he could help fire the goals needed to get Burnley competing in the upper echelons of the table.
