Live on Sky Sports: Blackburn Rovers v Bolton Wanderers

27 August 2015

The Football League weekend opens in style with a tantalising Lancashire derby first up, and it's live on Sky Sports!

The TV cameras will be at Ewood Park, where Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers will battle to secure the local bragging rights on Friday evening (7:45pm kick-off).

Can either end the winless streak?

Both Blackburn and Bolton go into the match having failed to register a single victory in any competition so far this season.

The pair have picked up just two points from their opening four Sky Bet Championship matches and were knocked out of the Capital One Cup by Shrewsbury Town and Burton Albion respectively.

For both teams, one of the major problems so far has been a lack of goals, with the two sides only managing to hit the back of the net a combined total of four times in the league.

Blackburn sold last season’s top goalscorer Rudy Gestede to Aston Villa over the summer, while the prolific Jordan Rhodes has been struggling with injury.

The good news for Rovers fans is that they invariably score at home, having hit the back of the net in 11 of the last 12 matches they have played at Ewood Park.

Bolton also lost the man who led their scoring charts during the 2014/15 campaign, with Adam Le Fondre’s loan spell coming to an end at the conclusion of last term.

So far they have struggled going forward in his absence, and Stephen Dobbie’s last-minute equaliser against Nottingham Forest last weekend was their first goal of the campaign.

Head-to-head

Blackburn and Bolton are incredibly familiar opponents, having met 166 times throughout history.

At the moment it is the Trotters who have the slight historical advantage, with Wanderers being able to celebrate victory 68 times compared to Blackburn’s 61 wins.

If they are to pick up a 69th victory, they will have to buck a recent trend that has seen them struggle away from the Macron Stadium.

Bolton have only won one of their last 12 matches on their travels, with their last victory on the road coming back in April against Cardiff City.
