Leyton Orient boss Ian Hendon remaining grounded despite table-topping start

19 August 2015

Leyton Orient moved to the top of the Sky Bet League 2 table on Tuesday night, but boss Ian Hendon is refusing to get carried away.

A 3-0 win at home to Stevenage maintained Orient's perfect start to the campaign, with goals from Jay Simpson, Blair Turgott and Ollie Palmer earning the O's all three points.

Absolutely buzzing!! Another win boys were unreal! Buzzing to score my first goal too. Fans were unreal #lofc

Speaking to Orient Player after the triumph, Hendon said: "I'm just delighted with the result. It's good to be top but we've got a long, long way to go yet.

"We're three games in to a 46-game season so our feet are firmly on the ground and we're already looking forward to Saturday."

Despite the scoreline, Hendon's side were made to work hard for their victory – with all three goals coming in the second half.

"To be fair to Stevenage, they're the best team we've played so far,” he added.

“They made it very difficult for us in the first half and it was a tough, tough game. But we got over the first half and came out second half, played a little bit better with the ball, and a couple of the goals were fantastic that we scored."
