Lead the team out with Mitre

7 August 2015

Three lucky Brighton & Hove Albion fans have won the chance of a lifetime to lead out the teams at the opening game of the new Sky Bet Football League season, live on Sky Sports.

The three fans, Mike Langridge, Jack Turnbull and Matt Francis, will be carrying out the new Mitre Delta Hyperseam ball before it is used in a Football League game for the very first time.
Albion linked up with The Football League and its official ball supplier to search for fans who are particularly deserving to be nominated to kick-off the Football League season in style.

Mike Langridge, a life-long Seagulls fan and season ticket holder, was nominated by his wife for his unwavering support of Brighton over the years. Mike sadly lost his father Tony to cancer last year, and this will be the first season Mike has attended Brighton games without his father.

Ten-year-old Jack Turnbull was nominated by his mum Sarah. Jack has been a real inspiration following his father’s heart attack 4 years ago whilst playing football. Thankfully his father has now recovered, but that hasn’t stopped Jack raising money for the British Heart Foundation, raising just under £1,000 and making the front page of the local newspaper. Jack is also part of the Albion’s elite Under 10 squad.

Matt Francis currently plays for Brighton & Hove Albion’s Power Chair team, and has recently been selected to represent England. A real favourite around the Club, Matt is a huge fan and has raised funds for his new chair for the upcoming season.

The Delta Hyperseam is Mitre’s most technologically advanced football ever produced, possessing the accuracy, speed and power of a stitched football whilst retaining the control and consistency of a bonded football.

It makes its debut tonight, live on Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 5, as Brighton host Nottingham Forest in the opening game of the Sky Bet Football League season. The ball will then feature in a further 1,655 Sky Bet Football League matches, with bespoke editions of the ball used for the Sky Bet Play-Off Finals, the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final and also in the Capital One Cup, which kicks off on Tuesday 12th August.
All 72 Football League teams will play home fixtures with a customised version of the Mitre Delta Hyperseam, featuring club logos and colours.
