Young Stevenage fans will be taking up some of the most important roles at the club when they host Plymouth Argyle next month.
The Kids Takeover will see eager Boro supporters becoming kit man, media assistant, safety officer – and even chairman – for the day as the club gives the lucky youngsters a rare behind-the-scenes look at life at The Lamex.
Former England striker Teddy Sheringham took over as boss of the Boro in the summer, and one fan will even get the chance to work alongside the gaffer on matchday, watch the warm-ups from the dugout and write a column for the programme.
A first Kids Takeover took place back in February, when Stevenage defeated Southend 4-2. It was such a success that the club decided to make it even bigger and better this time around, with six matchday roles on offer and the chance for three young fans to report from the training ground on the Thursday before the Sky Bet League 2 match.
Dave Toyn, marketing, media & communications manager at Stevenage, said: "Our first Kids Takeover back in February was a huge success and it was always something we hoped to repeat this season.
"This time we've expanded the event to include more matchday roles, including a chance to be our Mini Manager for the afternoon and we've already had more entries than before from young Boro fans. We're not just restricting the fun to home supporters though, with a couple of special opportunities also lined up for young visiting Plymouth Argyle fans.
"Our fans, staff and matchday volunteers have shown great support in backing our second Kids Takeover, as have our colleagues at Plymouth. As reigning League 2 Family Club of the Year we'll be continuing our efforts throughout the season to attract and reward the next generation of Stevenage fans with some fantastic experiences."
The Kids Takeover is open to fans aged between seven and 12. Details of the roles on offer can be found on the club website and you'll need to apply by midday on Friday, August 28, to be in with a chance of taking part.
