There will also be two clashes between rivals in the capital – Tottenham Hotspur versus Arsenal and Crystal Palace against Charlton Athletic.

Gary Rowett's Birmingham advanced to Round 3 courtesy of a 2-0 win over Gillingham, while Villa overcame a spirited Notts County side 5-3 to reach this stage.

The Blues will have fond memories of their last League Cup encounter against Villa, advancing with a 2-1 victory on their way to winning the competition in 2011, and their squad this time around can't wait to test themselves against the Premier League outfit.

Another good home result. Looking forward to the derby against @AVFCOfficial in the cup!

Due to European exploits, Tottenham and Arsenal enter the Capital One Cup at the third-round stage, and matches between the North London rivals rarely disappoint.

Arsenal won 4-1 at White Hart Lane in their last League Cup meeting – one of a number of high-scoring encounters between the pair over the years.

What a draw to get to start our @CapitalOne_Cup campaign with!!!
