Carlos Carvalhal not getting carried away after Sheffield Wednesday winning debut

10 August 2015

Carlos Carvalhal is keen not to get carried away after winning his first game as Sheffield Wednesday manager.

The Portuguese boss led the Owls to a 2-0 win over Bristol City, with Lewis McGugan and Tom Lees scoring the goals which provided the Yorkshire side with the three points.

It was a good start to Carvalhal’s reign, but the 49-year-old boss insists that there is still a long way to go.

“I am happy, the supporters are happy, and that is all we can ask for after the first game of the season,” Carvalhal told Sheffield Wednesday’s official site.

“But I know that this is only the start; the first run of a long marathon. I try to be calm after the game, win, lose or draw.

“But right now I am happy for everyone, the players, the coaches, the chairman and, of course, our massive fans.

“They created a positive environment today which always has a positive effect on the team.”
