Since that 1-0 success at Home Park, Carlisle have made 11 trips down to Plymouth and have very little to show for it – just a single point, in fact.

The Cumbrians lost the following four games after that three-point haul, before the two clubs avoided each other for 15 seasons. But the years apart didn't change anything, with the Pilgrims racking up five home victories in consecutive seasons, scoring 11 and conceding one.

Finally, after another extended break – this time of nine years – Carlisle picked up a point down in Devon during the 2010/11 campaign. However, it was still a day of heartbreak when Ian Harte's free-kick was cancelled out by a last-gasp Rory Patterson equaliser for the hosts.

Lewis Alessandra's goal decided things last season, but Keith Curle will be setting his sights on picking up a result in Match Round 3 – especially if Jabo Ibehre can keep up his hot streak of six goals in three games.

The striker netted a hat-trick in the thrilling 4-4 draw with Cambridge United in Match Round 2 – a performance which saw him included in the Sky Bet Football League Team of the Week.
