Bury v Swindon Town: History favours the visitors

13 August 2015

Swindon Town visit Bury on Saturday in Match Round 2 of Sky Bet League 1 knowing the travelling team has taken all three points in the last three encounters between the two teams.

And the win has been secured each time courtesy of a 1-0 scoreline, with this trend stretching back to April 2007.

On that day it was Swindon who triumphed, thanks to a Lukas Jutkiewicz goal, before the Robins won on the road to the Shakers again in the next meeting, in October 2012; James Collins with the goal on that occasion.

It was also 1-0 to the travelling team in the reverse match during that 2012/13 campaign, with Bury taking maximum points at the County Ground thanks to a Steven Schumacher strike.

Head-to-head

Meetings: 45
Bury wins: 13
Swindon wins: 21
Draws: 11

While Bury took the points in the most recent clash, they had lost the previous six meetings and have have only got the better of the Robins twice since the turn of the century.

Headline-grabbers

Two of the biggest talking points from Match Round 1 in the Sky Bet Football League involved these two sides.

While the impressive Nathan Byrne bagged a hat-trick for Swindon Town – the first of 2015/16 in The Football League - Bury were involved in a far more controversial incident, eventually being the beneficiaries of Doncaster Rovers' sportsmanship.
