Brighton & Hove Albion see off Nottingham Forest 1-0 in curtain-raiser

7 August 2015

Brighton & Hove took all three points against Nottingham Forest on the opening night of the 2015/16 Football League season thanks to a solitary Kazenga LuaLua goal.

The Seagulls had a number of first-half chances but had to wait until the 50th minute to get the only goal of the game.

A threat all night, LuaLua picked the ball up in a wide position before shifting it onto his left foot and firing low beyond goalkeeper Dorus de Vries.

It was the winger who had the first chance of the match in the opening exchanges, firing low at De Vries, prior to Forest midfielder Henri Lansbury striking the post from a curling free-kick.

Brighton’s Beram Kayal also hit the woodwork in the first half, firing against the base of the Forest post, before the game opened up.

But it was after the interval when the crucial moment came, which LuaLua celebrated in style, setting the Seagulls off to a winning start in the Sky Bet Championship.
