Steve Evans calls on the fans to help Rotherham United over the line

28 April 2015

Rotherham United host Reading tonight knowing that a win will keep them in the Sky Bet Championship, and manager Steve Evans wants the Millers' faithful behind them all the way.

It's the latest crunch fixture at the AESSEAL New York Stadium, following the last-day victory over Aldershot Town to seal League 2 promotion two years ago, and the memorable 3-1 triumph over Preston North End in last season's Play-Off Semi-Final.

Speaking to Millers Player, Evans said: “This is bigger than Aldershot and Preston. We were 1-0 down on Saturday and the roof was coming off.

“Off the pitch the decibels were at a new level on Saturday [against Norwich City]. We needed the fans at Wembley, we needed them against Aldershot and we will again.”

Rotherham slipped in to the bottom three for a brief spell last weekend but Millwall were pegged back by Derby County, and Jordan Bowery's goal grabbed a crucial point for Evans' men against the high-flying Canaries.

“I look back on Saturday with immense pride. It was a good performance, Norwich started off bright but we changed it and dominated.

“My players have had the right mentality for this battle for months now. We've got some big game players here.

“We have to turn up and produce a huge performance to get us what will be a huge result.”
