Blackpool manager Lee Clark says he wants his side to make an immediate return to the Sky Bet Championship, following the club's relegation. The Tangerines were held to a 1-1 draw at Bolton Wanderers on Saturday, meaning Rotherham United's 1-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion on Easter Monday was enough to send them into Sky Bet League 1 for next term.
But Clark insists work is already under way behind the scenes to ensure the club return to the Championship, and that they avoid another season that has seen them win just four games so far.
"We knew it [relegation] was a case of if and when but it still hurts," he told Blackpool's official website.
"It's been a really difficult season and we're now waiting for 3rd May to get the rebuild fully under way.
"I've already started planning and looking forward to the future, we'll be making changes and work continues in the background now to make sure that we hit the ground running when we start pre-season.
"We've got targets in mind and some pre-season games already in place, so I can't wait to get my teeth stuck into the task of getting this club back up again.
"We've got to do better moving forward and give the fans something to smile about again. All that has gone wrong this season has to be used in a way that ensures that it never happens again.
"We'll look to put together a squad that is worthy of this club and excites the supporters. We need to bounce back to the Championship and become a competitive team once more."
Blackpool have taken just 24 points from a possible 120 in their torrid campaign to date, and are the first Football League side to suffer relegation this season.
