Bristol City defender Aden Flint has been named the Sky Bet League 1 Player of the Month for March.
Flint’s three headed League goals in the month took his season’s tally to nine and he also scored an early Wembley goal to set City on their way to Johnstone’s Paint Trophy glory. As a centre-back, Flint contributed to three clean sheets in six games.
Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill said: “Aden’s form this season has been magnificent and obviously his goals have brought attention to that.
“My only surprise is that he hasn’t won this award before now. This is the third time he’s been nominated and I’m delighted for him that he’s won it.”
Sky Sports’ Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “For a defender to win this award, it’s a special achievement – and Flint is a special defender.
“Adding goals to his solid defensive performances in March mean that he is head and shoulders above the competition.”
Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery said: “Belonging to a table-topping back line who have one of the best defensive records in the league is enough of a reason to consider Flint for Player of the Month honours.
“Added to this, he netted for his side on three separate occasions.”
The judging panel for the Sky Bet Player of the Month comprises Sky Sports Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Head of Communications John Nagle; League Managers Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.
