Sky Bet Football League Team of the Week

29 September 2014

We pick out 11 top performers and a manager from the week's Sky Bet Football League matches.

Goalkeeper: Roy Carroll (Notts County)

The experienced stopper produced a fine display to help County record a point at Chesterfield, saving efforts from Eoin Doyle, Daniel Johnson and Dan Gardner, to earn praise from Spireites boss Paul Cook.

Defender: Luke Wilkinson (Luton Town)

Centre-back Wilkinson scored a second-minute header for the Hatters against Oxford, and was a key figure in a back line that kept the visitors at bay in front of over 9,000 at Kenilworth Road. That was the team's fourth clean sheet on the spin.

Defender: Simon Francis (Bournemouth)

Francis was part of a Cherries defence to keep a clean sheet at home to Wigan and that gave them the platform to pick up three valuable points. Francis was effective at the other end too, scoring his side's second after a marauding run down the right - just his third goal in three years.

Defender: Nathan Byrne (Swindon Town)

Full-back Byrne was on top form for Swindon at Barnsley - he opened the scoring before setting up Jake Reeves for the Robins' second, in a fine all-round display.

Midfielder: Marvin Elliot (Crawley Town)

Crawley had only scored four goals over their nine matches prior to Saturday but Elliot bagged a headed brace in what was his home debut to guide the Reds to a 2-0 success against Yeovil Town.

Midfielder: Matt Done (Rochdale)

Done was star of the show for Dale at Leyton Orient on Saturday, bagging a brace in their 3-2 victory. The 26-year-old found the net with two superb low finishes - his sixth and seventh league goals of the term.

Midfielder: Joss Labadie (Dagenham & Redbridge)

Labadie was at the double for Daggers on Saturday as they saw off York 2-0 for a first home victory of the campaign.

Midfielder: Chris Whelpdale (Stevenage)

Stevenage beat Mansfield 3-0 and that was largely thanks to Whelpdale, who notched twice. His first goal came in the third minute, before sealing the points late on.

Striker: Nahki Wells (Huddersfield Town)

Two goals from the Bermudan striker, including a second-half penalty, sealed Chris Powell's first three points as Huddersfield manager, against Millwall.

Striker: Kieran Agard (Bristol City)

Agard added another two goals to his tally in the Robins' thrilling, top-of-the-table battle against Milton Keynes Dons, which they won 3-2. The striker now has five goals in his last four appearances.

Striker: Joe Piggott (Newport County)

The on-loan Charlton front man put in a fine display for the Exiles on Saturday. He netted just after the break against AFC Wimbledon, before scoring a fine solo effort on the hour mark.

Manager: Kit Symons (Fulham)

Fulham have now won two of their three games under the guidance of caretaker boss Kit Symons, after a 2-1 victory at Birmingham on Saturday - a result that moved them off the foot of the Sky Bet Championship table.
